Nortel Hires New Services President

Mike Zafirovski's overhaul of Nortel's senior management team took another step forward with the appointment of Dietmar Wendt as president of its global service division – a position that has been vacant since Sue Spradley was bumped aside earlier this year. Unlike most of Mike Z.'s other hires, Wendt is not a ex-General Electric colleague. He comes from IBM where he was vice-president, Asia Pacific Information Technology Services Transformation (now, that's a title) in Shanghai. The German-born Wendt will – surprise, surprise – be based in Toronto and be responsible for Nortel's services business, including its "financial performance, portfolio development and go-to-market strategies". All Mike Z. needs to do now is hire a chief technology officer and a chief marketing officer. For more, here's a CP story.
